Heritage Rail Motor Tours

Enjoy a relaxed, informative tour on our heritage Queensland Rail Motors and discover more about the history and workings of the railway. There is a live commentary and guided tours of the Top Points Signal Box and Zig Zag maintenance workshop. There is also a photo stop at the scenic lookout at Number 1 Viaduct.

The Rail Motors run on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, except NSW School Holidays and Public Holidays, when we run steam trains. Times are 11:00, 13:00 and 15:00 from Clarence. Return trip is approximately 90 mins.

Rail Motors also run on Sundays in addition to the steam service, which means you can enjoy the Rail Motor Tour on the down trip and return on the steam train. Sunday times are 09:40, 11:40, 13:40 from Clarence. Return trip by RM 2 hrs, return by steam 3 hrs.

You can come by road to Clarence, or by Cityrail train to Zig Zag Station and join the tour at our Bottom Points Station.
